The Community Services Directorate (CSD) would like to invite interested members of the community to an information session on the development of land in Braddon and Reid on 16 December 2011.

The community is invited to comment on a proposal to vary the Territory Plan for the Cooyong Street Urban Renewal Precinct (draft variation 308).
The area is currently occupied by the Allawah, Bega and Currong Flats and various church uses.
The draft variation proposes to change the zoning and introduce a precinct code which would allow high density residential and mixed-use redevelopment of the site with some retail, community and office space. Continue reading »
The Tradies group has offered to relinquish vacant land in Canberra’s inner-north for an affordable rental accommodation development being considered by the ACT Government. The l500sqm block housed the former Downer Club at Dickson that burnt down last year.

Public housing tenants can now apply to purchase their existing home under the ACT Government’s new‘ Shared Equity Scheme’. One of Australia’s largest building societies IMB Limited will provide first mortgage finance to tenants purchasing their properties under the scheme. Tenants who are unable to afford to buy the full value of their home can buy a percentage of it. Housing ACT will retain the remaining percentage until it is also purchased by the tenant.
