The Watson Oval sub-committee of the Watson Community Association will be hosting a community meeting on Tuesday September 11 to discuss the refurbishment of the Watson Neighbourhood Oval. The meeting is open for all to attend and contribute ideas.
Interested Canberrans are invited by the ACT Government to provide input into the proposed boundaries for the 40 kilometre per hour (km/h) speed limit precincts in Belconnen, Civic and Tuggeranong. Following its successful introduction in Gungahlin and Woden earlier this year, the ACT Government is now introducing the reduced 40 km/h speed limit in Belconnen, Civic and Tuggeranong town centres to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
ACT Liberal election Candidates for Molonglo will attend the third North Canberra Community Council pre-election forum, at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15 August, at ACT Sports House, 100 Maitland Street, Hackett. Candidates will discuss issues affecting North Canberra. Following the election forum, Ross Triffitt of Tennis ACT will explain the redevelopment proposal for the National Sports Club in Lyneham. We will also consider the Dickson Master Plan, redevelopment plans for Pialligo and the Downer Centre, and the Wood Heaters Amendment Bill. All North Canberra residents welcome.
In December 2011 the ACT Legislative Assembly made changes to the Building Act and regulation in relation to signs on building sites. From 1 July 2012 all building sites, where work is being carried out (or supervised) by a licensed builder (including owner-builders), must display a sign with information about the work being done. This means the sign must be displayed from the first day to the last day of construction. The North Canberra Community Council will host a public forum at 7:30 on Wednesday 18 July, at ACT Sports House, 100 Maitland Street, Hackett. ACT Greens Candidates for Molonglo will attend to talk about issues affecting North Canberra residents and to answer questions from the floor from 7:30 to 8:15. The North Canberra Community Council continues to be a proud supporter of National Tree Day. This year we are providing funding for a school children’s planting event on July 27 and support for a larger community event on July 29. Both events will be held in the Mt Majura Nature Reserve.
